Chromaline Magna/Cure Dual-Cure Capillary Film is a premium pre-sensitized photopolymer/diazo stencil film designed for screen printers who demand precise stencil thickness, exceptional image quality, and outstanding durability. As a capillary film system, Magna/Cure provides a controlled emulsion-over-mesh profile while eliminating many of the variables associated with manually coating liquid emulsion.
The dual-cure photopolymer/diazo chemistry provides excellent resistance to water, solvent, and co-solvent based ink systems. This versatility makes Magna/Cure suitable for demanding graphic, textile, electronics, industrial, UV, and specialty screen printing applications.
Magna/Cure provides exceptional edge definition and image reproduction, making it an excellent choice for fine lines, halftones, detailed graphics, and other applications where stencil accuracy is critical. Different film thicknesses allow screen printers to select the appropriate stencil profile for everything from extremely fine detail to heavy ink-deposit applications.
The controlled thickness of capillary film helps produce consistent stencil profiles from screen to screen. This repeatability is especially valuable in production environments where maintaining predictable ink deposit, image quality, and printing characteristics is important.
A wide exposure latitude provides a forgiving screen-making process while maintaining excellent stencil durability and image quality. After exposure, Magna/Cure develops easily, helping operators achieve clean image areas and well-defined stencil edges.
Magna/Cure is available in multiple film thicknesses to accommodate different mesh counts and printing requirements. Thin films such as Magna/Cure 18 and 25 are designed for high mesh counts, fine graphics, and halftones, while thicker Magna/Cure 50 and 70 films are suitable for textile printing, specialty graphics, puff inks, and applications requiring heavier ink deposits.
Unlike water-based liquid emulsions, Magna/Cure capillary film is not affected by freezing temperatures, making it easier to store and ship during cold weather.

- Magna/Cure 18 – 18 Micron / 0.7 Mil: Recommended for approximately 390 mesh and higher. Excellent for high-detail graphics, fine halftones, UV inks, and other applications requiring a thin, precise stencil.
- Magna/Cure 25 – 25 Micron / 1.0 Mil: Recommended for approximately 305 mesh and higher. Designed for detailed artwork, fine graphics, decals, and halftone applications.
- Magna/Cure 30 – 30 Micron / 1.2 Mil: Recommended for approximately 230–305 mesh. Excellent for fine graphics, halftones, and general graphic screen printing.
- Magna/Cure 38 – 38 Micron / 1.5 Mil: Recommended for approximately 200–305 mesh. Suitable for graphic printing, halftones, UV ink applications, and applications requiring a moderately increased ink deposit.
- Magna/Cure 50 – 50 Micron / 2.0 Mil: Recommended for approximately 80–200 mesh. Ideal for general textile printing, specialty graphics, circuit-board solder mask applications, and applications requiring a heavier stencil.
- Magna/Cure 70 – 70 Micron / approximately 2.5 Mil: Recommended for approximately 80–110 mesh. Designed for puff inks, specialty textile printing, and other applications requiring a heavy ink deposit.
- Select the Magna/Cure film thickness according to the mesh count, required stencil thickness, image detail, and desired ink deposit.
- Thoroughly degrease the screen mesh before applying the capillary film.
- Make sure the mesh is properly prepared so the film can achieve uniform contact and adhesion.
- Apply Magna/Cure to properly wetted screen mesh according to Chromaline's recommended capillary film application procedure.
- Remove excess moisture carefully to establish uniform contact between the film and mesh.
- Allow the screen to dry completely before removing the film carrier.
- Remove the carrier only after the capillary film has completely dried and bonded to the mesh.
- Determine the correct exposure time using an exposure calculator or exposure test rather than relying solely on a predetermined exposure time.
- Proper exposure is important for achieving maximum stencil durability, edge definition, and ink resistance.
- Wash out the exposed screen carefully until all image areas are completely open.
- Dry the finished stencil thoroughly before placing the screen into production.
- Use thinner Magna/Cure films for high mesh counts, fine lines, halftones, and detailed graphics.
- Use thicker Magna/Cure films when increased stencil thickness and heavier ink deposits are required.
- Store unused film according to Chromaline recommendations and protect it from excessive heat, humidity, and unintended UV/light exposure.
